From 23rd to 27th May 2012 Florence turns in an outdoor ice-cream shop!!! Firenze Gelato Festival (Florence Ice-cream Festival) will be back to invade the Tuscan Capital and enhacing the frozen desset origin in the cradle of the Renaissance.
An inevitable stop for those who like to be amazed by the magic taste of ice cream!
The theme of this year, “Ice-cream, Food, Culture”, will be laid out in some big side events, which will be focused on the cuture of Italian ice-cream. On the one hand, the attention will be drawn on the ice-crem’s history ; on the other hand it will trace the success of frozen dessert through the different machinery and methods used for its production.
Concerning food, the Festival promises to surprise the publicwith new tastes and version of the “Gelato cocktail”, made by the best barman with the aim to refresh with taste and originality the hottest nights; as well as gastronomic tastings that combine ice-cream and dishes prepared by the top chefs.
In the schedule of events there will be also olfactory itineraries that will bind essences created by craftsman perfumers with the most popular ice-cream flavours. Florence, thanks to the historical “officine” (laboratories) wich still produce world famous essences, is the home of parfume art. On the occasion of “Firenze Gelato Festival”, ice-cream and perfume will blend togheter to suggest a multi-sensory experience that cannot be missed!
You can also play during the “Firenze Gelato Festival 2012”! To engage visitors, there will be two special contests: thanks to Gusta-Vota e vinci fantastici premi! (Taste, vote and win wonderful prizes!) you will have the opportunity to choose the best ice-cream flavour of the festival proclaiming the Summer 2012 ice-cream maker, and to win the sponsors prizes. But not only: there is also “Golosamente Gelato” (Greedily Ice-cream), which will put the festival’s greediest visitors face-to-face! The one who tastes the largest number of ice-cream flavours will win a great prize (the number of purchased cards will prove it)
