The British artist Antony Gormley, one of the most important sculptors of our time, come back in Italy, and invading the village of “San Gimignano” with his works.
The “Galleria Continua” will show, in fact, until August 20th 2012 his last inedit works, a symposium and a public art project, leaving tourists with no words.
Twelve new sculptures all made from blocks of solid iron, really using the formal purity of abstract art.
Gormley is still usual to astonish. Just think that in New York, “the men of iron” on top of skyscrapers, have been mistaken for desperate suicides, causing disbelief by people.
The nost important centerpiece of this exhibition is represented by a work of vast dimensions as the show itself entitled: “Vessel“
Emotions that emphasize inconsistencies and tensions are the key focus of this exhibition.
The exhibition also go in the streets and squares of San Gimignano, by exposing six identical casts of the artist’s body.
