Impeccable rooms, elegantly decorated and appointed. Very comfortable beds and a pillow menu with enough choices for absolutely anyone. Our room overlooked a small lovely courtyard. Hot breakfast was extensive in small attractive dining room off the courtyard which appeared to have outdoor seating in warmer weather. Conveniently located for exploring on foot or catching public bus very nearby. Will certainly stay here again.

My husband and I travelled to Florence unexpectedly when the Icelandic volcano brought a few twists to our holiday to Rome. What an experience Florence and the Hotel Palazzo dal Borgo were- we feel so lucky to have spent time in both. This hotel is the perfect base for exploring breath-taking Florence. High ceilings, frescoed walls, spacious rooms- elegant beauty and a charming lack of uniformity that make you realize this really was a palazzo. TS Eliot stayed there in the 1950s- a small black and white, autographed photo propped in a corner lets you in on this bit of literary history. To risk the cliche, staying here felt like stepping back into another age. Breakfast was a joy in a sunny room with high, painted ceilings. The staff were extremely friendly and the wine served in generous glasses. The price for this gorgeous experience was, we thought, very reasonable. We’ll definitely be returning by design rather than accident!

The proximity to the train station (we were travelling by train), as well as to many tourist destinations and piazzas. very easy to get around the city and still be close to your hotel! We only had one full day in firenze and needed assistance on what we should do to really maximize our time. the staff was very very helpful in letting us know what tours/activities were available to us. definitely the best few days we could have had in florence!!
It was seriously perfect for us!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo dal Borgo Hotel Aprile. Our room was large, with a romantic curtained four poster bed. My only complaints being the pillows were a bit hard and a fair amount of noise came up from the street as our room was at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was in a room with a beautiful frescoed ceiling and Mario made us an excellent cappuccino each morning. The location was excellent with a very easy walk from the Santa Maria Novella Station and within easy walking distance to all the major sights. Some excellent traditional restaurants were close by. The thing i liked most about this hotel was its historical charm and romantic atmosphere. we would definitely stay there again but perhaps request a room at the back of the hotel.

Ancora grazie.

We spent 5 wonderful nights in the Palazzo dal Borgo. The hotel is located conveniently near the train station, Duomo, and lots of restaurants. The room we had was very spacious and had a great view of a courtyard, the bell tower, and a church. Based on reviews we requested a room on the courtyard side because we heard the street can be loud and were glad we made this request. It is located on a busy road with a lot of activity from the nearby station, but we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable with the area. The hotel has an interesting layout with winding hallways on the floors. It was furnished nicely, but our bed was a little too soft for our taste. The hotel advertises free wifi internet, but the connection was slower than dial up and almost unusable during the time we were there (it might not normally be this way, but I have seen others say the same thing). Internet wasn’t a huge priority for us in Florence, as we were there to sight see, not answer work emails. Overall this was a wonderful place to stay and would return if we find ourselves in Florence again.

Bellissimo hotel.
Grazie.

“I felt like I was a queen and the San Gallo palace was my palace!”
From the minute we (my friend & I) walked into this hotel, we knew our travel agent made the right choice for us. A friendly warm genuine smile greeted us and asked us how our trip was. Our room was very clean, we didn’t expect a private terrace that we loved sitting on with the flowers that gave that extra touch. Every evening we looked forward to visiting the reception area ( It was too special to call it “the bar.”) to spend time with the waitor. He was so genuine, remembered where we were going and asked us how we liked it, he made reservations for us, made special drinks and appetizers for us. He truly made us feel like queens and this was our palace !
The complimentary breakfast was a full breakfast that was good. The variance of food would fit anyone’s taste, it was warm and very appealing to the eye.
The little things that the staff at this hotel did truly made us feel like queens and it was our palace ! Truly a hotel I would highly recommend to anyone !

Stayed at this hotel for our 20th wedding anniversay and we were very pleased with our choice. The hotel in our opinion was just the right size as we dont like massive impersonal hotel chains. It was very well kept, spotlessly clean and had the air of a respected family run concern. Most of the waiters were mature and appeared to have worked there for years! They werent gushing but there again they were there to do a job and just got on with it, and that was fine by us! Reception was first class whatever we asked for was delivered to our room in no time at all including tea/coffee facilities and toothbrushes(that I had forgotten to pack) at no extra charge. Our room which was on the 3rd floor was well presented although on the small side.No view as such but that didnt bother us as it was so quite even with the airconditioning on permanently. Sleep was perfect! The hotel is very centrally located near the train and bus station so it was very easy to visit our cities, Sienna being one which was lovely(…)To sum up our four days in Florence at the Adriatico we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, really liked the hotel which very much catered for our taste and would have no hesitation whatsoever in staying there again.

“Really Good”
My wife and I, along with another couple, stayed at the San Gallo during a heat wave (yes, even hotter than usual) in Florence. No complaints whatsoever.
The staff were very efficient and always did everything with a smile.
The room was compact, but clean and had almost everything you needed. The breakfast was good enough – had one small hot station (buffet). There was ample bread, cheese, cold cuts, cereals.
The food in Florence was great. We particularly liked the Ristorante Accademia, about a 15-minute walk away from the hotel. We found the hotel’s location to be perfect. About 20 minutes to the Duomo by walk and another five to the Uffizi. In short, a tranquil setting.

Just walking into this hotel was a treat. Its Lobby was tastefully decorated, air conditioned (keep in mind this was late july), and had a friendly and accommodating staff at the front counter.
The room was lovely too! It featured simple yet luxurious decor, two clean and comfortable beds, floor to ceiling windows (with a view of the cute courtyard), and a nice bathroom. There was nothing major-ly special about this room, but it felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming with a touch of fancy italian charm.
The breakfast was great, much better than the standard ‘continental’ breakfasts one gets from the average american hotel/motel. This one not only had cold cereal and pastry breads, but also scrambled eggs, fresh tomatoes and sliced cheese, deli meats, an array of tasty yogurt cups, jams and spreads, and a neat toaster oven for your breads or croissant. (…)The hotel’s proximity to everything is reasonable, but is a bit of a walk from, say, the Ponte Vecchio though. BUT don’t let the 10-20 min walk deter you though, it is beautiful and never dull. Plus if you are coming from america (like me), chances are you will realize that with the exchange rate you may not be able to afford a bus or taxi everywhere (again, like me), so you will probably be walking a bunch anyway, you’ll get used to it. The walk is also a good excuse to eat more pizza!!

The door in the middle of the wall in via della scall hides this amazing Gem hotel.
We were given a very nice, huge and romantically decorated room. I know the furniture is original / antique, that’s the style of the hotel. If you come from train, it is just in the corner from the train station. The breakfast was very nice. The team were fantastic. Actually, big thank to Barbara, from the reception desk who treated us very very nicely, booking tours and museums for us and giving us advice.
If I must say something “Negative” In our room the internet connection was very low, but we were in the 3rd floor, in a back room. In the looby worked perfectly and fast.

We have stayed at the Adriatico several times in the past few years and we always look forward to returning. The location is not great but it’s within easy reach of the town and the railway station, SMN. Our favourite restaurant Marione, which we also recommend, is only a short walk away. The walk into town along by the river on a sunny morning is stunning. The hotel is very clean, stylish and modern whilst retaining a classical old world charm and elegance. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We may have inadvertently upset the lady who kept our room so wonderefully spick and span, arranging everything thing and keeping us tidy, when we sought her out to show our appriciation, in the time honoured way, she probably thought initially that we were compaining; she spoke no English and we speak little Italian. Breakfast was a banquet and a real boost for the day. The breakfast room gives the option of dining room or alfresco; super on a hot sunny morning.
We look forward to our return.

We wanted a 4 star hotel easy 10minute walk to city centre, and the Adriatico provided us with such a location, convenient to walk into centre along the river side or via shops/restaurants. The location is excellent for main train service should one wish to visit other cities, and the main bus/tram services are also close by.
The hotel was quiet, clean, with extremely friendly and helpful staff available at all times to assist. The only thing missing from the room was perhaps the facility to make a tea/coffee.
The breakfast for all tastes with a good choice of serials ,fruit, cold meats, cheeses, pastries, along with some warm options.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation to return, as the hotel and location met all our needs.

“quite comfortable and extremely convenient!”
This hotel was recommended by an English colleague and lived up to his enthusiastic recommendation. The rooms which we had (to the rear of the building) were very quiet despite the convenient location on a busy thoroughfare. All the important sites on our itinerary (as well as the restaurants we had chosen in advance of departure and the train station) were within easy walking distance. The breakfast buffet was generous and we were not rushed by staff. All in all, a very pleasant hotel! (We were not interested in the “amenities” listed below – we have neither pets nor children and were happy to be spared the Internet for a few days – so I have no basis on which to judge them.)

“Live Florence’s renaissance atmosphere”
Palazzo dal Borgo Hotel Aprile played its part in our love affair with Florence. In the renaissance building we felt in perfect harmony with Florence’s atmosphere. It is about the frescoes, the paintings, the décor, the yard, the sound of Santa Maria Novella’s bell and the tiled rooftops and mountains from our room’s window. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was very good. Our room was spacious, charming and with a modern bathroom. Location is great, withing easy walking distance from all sites of interest, including the train and bus station. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

“A perfect Florentine hotel”
Staying a week in the hotel is a lovely experience, and normal life becomes entirely florentine: living in the centre of the city, in a simple, elegant and quintessentially florentine palazzo, walking up and down a pietra serena staircase every day, breakfasting under a frescoed ceiling. The views from the back rooms towards S. Naria Novella and the hills are worthy of the Forster novel; T. S. Eliot stayed there; even the WC in the front lobby is in the style of a Renaissance grotto. And most of all, the atmosphere is very warm and homely: the staff are supremely friendly, kind and helpful, the beds comfortable, the breakfast good, and it’s well-placed for buses, trains and restaurants (e.g. the great value Trattoria il Contadino in Via Pallazuolo). We’ve been coming whenever we could for twenty years, and couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else in Florence. Our only regret is that the road outside is now too busy for the old hotel cat, the lovely Sophia, to have been replaced. A perfect hotel.

“Quintessentially, the essence of Florence, breathtaking and romantic.”
This was our first visit to Florence and on arriving at the station got a bit lost. However the hotel is close by and within easy walking distance once you go the right way. The hotel is absolutely everying I imagined, romantic charm, old and graceful, The staff were very helpful and the rooms spotless. Breakfast was basic but adequate and the bar was always available if required. Sightseeing from here was a joy as everywhere was easily accessible on foot. The views of Santa Maria Novella from our window were amazing, and to sit and relax there in the sun was just why we wanted to visit. We shall definately be returning here and strongly reccommend this hotel for a relaxing feelof lorence.
Dont be put off by the plain appearence outside.

“Great location, staff & bang for your buck”
I booked this hotel off the other great reviews of travelers here on trip advisor and was not disappointed.
Here were my impressions:
The location: though close to the train station, there was nothing shady about the street or the area in which the hotel is located. As a solo female traveler I always felt safe and wandered around the city after work with little worry. The amazing staff identified good restaurants in the area which were all great. It was an easy walk to the duomo, ponte vecchio, and all the other central areas in no more than 5-10 mins. Taxis were always around and if you need to grab a train in the morning you can relax at the breakfast buffet with ease because the walk is 3 mins at a normal pace (I timed it haha)
The rooms & shared spaces: for Italy, this hotel is super spacious. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms, though mine was narrow, was clean, smelled normal, well kept and the temperature was easy to control. My room faced the street so it was semi-noisy but closing the windows helped a lot. I’m sure the inner rooms facing the courtyard would have been heavenly quiet but I didn’t mind my street facing room at all. There wasn’t anyone/anything that was too noisy after 10pm.
The staff & breakfast: The staff were more than helpful and from what I could tell all spoke upwards of 4 languages very well. Their English was perfect so if you don’t speak Italian no need to worry. The internet is $5 per 24 hours with good service and they were very nice to replace mine when it went missing halfway through my day for free. The breakfast buffet is headed by extremely nice, friendly, accommodating waiters who always wore a smile and made some amazing cappuccini. The offering was fresh and great and was a good start to the day.
Overall, I had an excellent stay and was happily surprised by the whole experience. I would no doubt recommend this to a friend.
Get an inner room if you can to help reduce noise.

With out knowing that the Hotel Rivoli was sited as one of the best by Trip Advisor, we chose it for its location in Florence Italy. It lived up to its advertising.
Like most of Florence, the hotel is on a narrow street about a block and a half from the train station Santa Maria Novella. Since we were taking three day trips by train this was a must. It turned out that it was only 3 or 4 blocks ( short blocks) from the Piazza di Repuiblica which is a wonderful gathering spot and also a block from the Duomo. We discovered that we were in close proximity to everything.
The hotel itself was marvelous. The rooms were good size, great bathrooms and the staff were wonderful.
Breakfast was included( buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon and more), was delicious and we didn’t have to go looking for a restaurant that was open early. Well worth it.
You can also have them send a car to the airport to pick you up for 50 euro, also well worth it.
The hotel was recently converted from a convent.
Do not judge a hotel by its outside in Florence

“hotel funzionale”

“Hotel BW Rivoli Florence”

“Good value for money”
We had a very quiet room at the back side of the hotel (overlooking the parking lot).
The matress was very hard, which was ok for us, but maybe is not for everyone.
Well located (10min walk to the dome, 10min walk from the train station Firenze SMN and just around the corner of most city car rental agencies) with clean and spacy rooms.
Breakfast was not a big deal, it offered a basic selection of typical continental breakfast.
Internet is available in the room (cable, but didn’t check for wireless) and at a kiosk in the lobby for EUR 5 per half an hour!
Car parking is offered also but charged EUR 20 per day (was for free before 01/01/2011).
Overall the stay was very ok for us but we stayed only for one night and the location of the hotel served perfectly our needs (arriving by train, leaving with a rented car).

“What a charming hotel !”
Conveniently located within walking distance of museums and sights. A1 service from staff. Lovely room overlooking the garden, we enjoyed the balmy spring weather. Should we return to Florence, we shall certainly make it a point to stay at the Hotel Rivoli !
Request a room overlooking the garden.

“A Great Find in Florence”
I was very happy with my stay at the Hotel Aprile, and I would most definitely recommend the hotel. My room was a good size, with nice linens on the bed and had a beautiful bathroom. Bedroom and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast, which I had every morning in the hotel garden, had a little more oomph to it than many, thanks to a daily dose of eggs and bacon. The hotel staff was very capable and helpful. Plus, the hotel has a good location, within a few blocks of the bus and train stations. I would happily return to the Hotel Aprile if I am ever lucky enough to be in Florence again

“Favorite of the entire family”
We just returned from a whirlwind trip that went from Rome, Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terra, Venice and Milan and the overall consensus of our favorite hotel was the San Gallo Palace.
It was spotless and wonderfully decorated. And an unbelievably great hotel staff. In my opinion you can’t go wrong with this hotel.

“Great hotel”
A little out of the city centre (15 min walk or jump on the little bus just around the corner for 1 Euro 20 cents) Glad it was out of the city centre after looking at what a lot of the central hotels charge for shoddy rooms. (Judged by looking through Trip advisor)
The hotel was fine with rooms which were more than adequate with really comfortable beds.
Breakfast was fine with perfect service.
I would absolutely stay here again.
Top tip: The hotel is 3 mins walk away from a fantastic restaurant that we went to for 2 nights running,
“Antica Trattoria “da Tito” dal 1913″ (also very high on Tripadvisor, for good reason, as we found out)
Thoroughly recommended for fine Tuscan food and a restaurant owner you will always remember!!!

“Comfortable and excellent service”
The staff is professional, and very helpful, and the Director/Manager Mr. Daniele, made sure that everything was in good order. The room was clean and tastefully appointed. The buffet breakfast was eye appealing and had a large variety of fresh foods; meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit and baked items, etc.
The hotel is also convenient to the train station and in walking distance to the center of the City.
The hotel staff made me feel comfortable throughout my stay.

“Ponte 2 giugno a Firenze – soggiorno perfetto!”

Gemütliches, sauberes, komfortables Hotel nur 5 Gehminuten vom Bahnhof entfernt. Freundliches Personal, geräumige Zimmer. Frühstück ist ok. Verkehrslärm ist erträglich. Kein Schnäppchen, aber Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

“Great hotel, good location”
We stayed 4 nights at the San Gallo and had no complaints at all. It was only a ten minute walk from San Marco square, and about 15 minutes walk from the station. The hotel has a small garden area (a little noisy at times due to local traffic) but still nice to come back to after a busy day for a drink. Our room was facing a small internal courtyard and was very quiet. Hotel staff were very helpful (we asked them to pre-order tickets for the Uffizi and Acadamy and they were ready on our arrival). The continental breakfast was excellent. If you don’t mind being a short distance out of the busy, lively town centre this is well recommended. And we can recommend the nearby Perseus restaurant – wonderful food and atmosphere and the biggest T-bone steaks!!
