The Ascension, event largely described in the New Testament, is the last episode of Jesus’ earthly life.
The Thursday 40 days after Easter celebration is considered a national holiday in a lot of European countries, like Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway and Indonesia.
This episode of Jesus’ life is one of the most celebrated artistic subjects in the history and in Florence there are a lot of churches and museums that preserve important works of Reinassance artists who have represented the Ascension.
In the Uffizi Gallery in the room dedicated to Andrea Mantegna, are exposed, among the other most famous operas of the artist, the three novels representing “The Ascension, The Adoration of Magi and The Circoncision”.
