Caravaggio e caravaggeschi a Firenze

Caravaggio, Bacco, Firenze, Galleria degli UffiziFrom May 22th to October 17th 2010

The Polo Museale Fiorentino wants to celebrate the 400th death anniversary of Michelangelo Merisi called Caravaggio (1610-2010) with two important exhibitions both called “Caravaggio e caravaggeschi a Firenze”, that will be exposed from May 22th to October 17th 2010 at the Palatina Gallery and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

These exhibitions expose a revisiting of  the Caravaggio’s masterworks and a re-examination of a movement inspired by his art, that Medici’s family and the other important families of that century appreciated a lot.

In these two Galleries will be exposed the Merisi’s masterworks, strong paintings, images of dark interiors by Gentileschi, Honthorst, Stomer and other artists, both italians and strangers, that are the mirror of the european collectionism.

This exhibition, such as the other one called “Pregio e Bellezza. Cammei e intagli dei Medici”, will take place during “Un anno ad arte. Firenze 2010”, the ambitious calendar of Polo Fiorentino’s museums for the 2010.
