The object of the exhibition, on the fifth anniversary of the birth of Vasari, is the foudation of Uffizi. Much more than a building an architectonic system on a urban scale, result of a narrow contribution from Duke, Cosimo I De’ Medici and Vasari, artist beloved by the Duke.
This Building complex is located in the heart of the city of Florence that brings together the administrative institutions of governement, the Magistracy or the Arts, subordinating them to narrow rule of the young Duke. Of this first destiantion remains only the name Uffizi, mean Offices. The complex is a real piece of the new city, which linked the two residence of the Duke, in one organism, Palazzo Vecchio, headquarters of the governement, and Palazzo Pitti, across the river Arno, sending the physical presence of power. The architectural establisment of the Uffizi is crowned the top floor of the lodge, which contains valuable antique statues of the Medici collection. The exhibition builds on the personality of authors, the Duke and Vasari, put in first place the urban among Palazzo Vecchio and Arno, before the construction of the Uffizi, then describes the stages of planning and execution of the complex. The site organized is celebrated by ancient tools, which are flanked by pieces recently rediscovered. The moments of rejection and the affirmation are illustrated in the exhibition throught the works of artists who contrasted the entrance of Vasari, disseminating a dense texture art and culture that marked the culmination of the Florentine Renaissance.
